Default health food stores/natural supermarkets?

Whole Foods & Earth Fare seem outrageously priced for many items. Aside from Trader Joes, what are other more reasonably-priced health food stores/natural supermarkets in the area?

Weaver Street Market in Carrboro

Durham Food Co-op

Harmony Farms Natural Foods in Raleigh

The State Farmer's Market in Raleigh.

The Carrboro and Durham Farmer's Markets are both still operating for winter. In the summer there are also the Cary, Wake Forest, and Moore Square Farmer's markets.

You might also want to check out the specialty sections of larger Harris Teeter. Often you can buy the same brands there, as a lot of the earthy, granola type companies have sold out to "the man." This makes finding brands/items once available only in health food stores more mainstream.

Happy shopping!

If it's a convenient location for you, I'd also check out the Chatham Marketplace, which is a new grocery co-op in Pittsboro.

I was down in Pittsboro this weekend and this is a great little food co-op!! I loved it! It reminded me of the some of the co-ops in Eugene 20 years ago. They had a nice selection for the small space. And the people were very friendly!! I just wish it was closer to me.
