Those are almost impossible questions to answer, I'm afraid.
I know if there are kids involved and the divorce/custody is contested, it can be years and well over $100. I know that personally.
If the divorce is not contested, I've heard the lowest lawyer costs are $2000-$2500? You can also file without an attorney - but I can't imagine doing that unless there are no kids and no property issues.
Time-wise - in NC, you have to be living apart for a year before you can file for absolute divorce. Other than that, it is simply waiting for a date on the judges calendar. If it isn't contested, it is a simple form and can only take a few days.
That being said - Mark Sullivan in Raleigh is known as the lawyer's attorney - he is absolutely one of the Wake County experts. But he isn't cheap.
