Question Are you really a Yankee???

Saw this on the Atlanta Forum. Thought is was really a hoot. It's a survey to see how yankee you actually are.

I scored 50% which is barely yankee. Funny cause I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life except for the last three and a half here in NC. I guess I'm turning southern.

I didn't have any answers to a few questions though like:

Aunt: I pronounce it Ahhnt. Like when you go to the doctor and they tell you to stick out your tonge and say ahhhhh.

Carmel. I pronounce it will two syllables but like Cah-Mel.

Good luck.

The Yankee or Dixie quiz

Apparently I'm 45% Yankee. Next time someone asks if I'm "from the North," I will finally know how to respond.

My Score:

65% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!

I was surprised!

I scored 53% Dixie

21 years in western PA
21 years in northeast TX
2 years in Raleigh

My preference to say "Yins" instead of "Y'all" and "pop" instead of "coke" saved my a$$ from more certain shame.

59% Dixie

Very odd, because I've lived the first 18 years of my life in the Midwest, six in Boston and Washington, and almost five outside the U.S.

I've been living in N.C. for roughly two months!

They did not have the proper term for the liquor store as an option. We called it the Packie store in Mass

49% yankee, but I played around after getting my score and a lot of the terms they have listed equaled to all over the US. I dont think those count either way.

I did this one before, How Massachusetts are you?
and I got 91%

Southern born and Southern bred, but only 56% Dixie according to this. Not surprised at all, actually. Most folks who meet me for the first time think I'm from Maryland or Pennsylvania.

Total of 27 years in NC, 3 years in Australia, 1.5 years in Arizona & 1.5 years in Colorado. And I'll save you the trouble on the math...I'm 33.

It says I am 50% Yankee. Makes sense as I spent the past 20 years in MA.

I just took the MA and scored 100%. I guess I still am a boston gal after all.

The packie and jimmies. Gotta love that.
