I'm graduating from college in Virginia in May, have never been to the raleigh area until the last three days and immediately fell in love with it! I would potentially be moving sometime this summer and found apartments that I like in the Brier Creek area. Anyone who lives or is around that area a lot have opinions of it? I'm not much of a "partier" or into the club scene, but would be looking for a church with an active young (single) adults group...

any opinions/info on the area would be appreciated! Thanks :0)

Brier Creek is certainly convenient with lots of shopping close by. Any particular denomination? We go to Providence Baptist in Raleigh which is fairly large (about 2500 people each Sunday) and they have a very large singles ministry.

Brier Creek is a nice area. Lots of shopping like the previous poster said. 540 and 40 are right there. If you need to travel, RDU is there as well. You have access to triangle town, Southpoint and Crabtree which are malls. You are a little further away from Glenwood South but since you are not into clubs or a partier than I wouldn't worry too much.

Good choice. Where will you be working?

Very high rents for what you get in Brier Creek.

If budget is a big issue, broaden your search.

I was looking at apts in that area about 9 months ago and read on several apartment rating websites that some of the apt communities in Brier Creek had crime problems. This seemed odd to me because the area seems so nice. You might want to do a web search to see what you can dig up. Try apartmentratings.com. There was one particular community there that I looked at and it seemed very nice. Wish I could remember the name.

Brier Creek is close to Durham and is loaded with rich yuppies just ripe to be ripped off.

Nuff said?

I know there are many great folks in Durham. However, have heard from several Brier Creek residents how they've repeatedly been victims of car break-ins.

Money attracts crime.

original poster here! thanks for the responses! I would love a nondenominatinal more contemporary church, but would be open to checking out some different ones. I will also be looking for a preschool to teach at, I've looked at The Raleigh School and Durant Road Preschool which both looked okay- any opinions there??

that is kind of surprising about the crime around there, the area seemed so nice to me! thanks for being honest though- keep the posts comin'! :0)

It's a nice area, and that makes it a target.

Some nondenominational contemporary churches I've attended in Raleigh and suggest are:

1. Crossroads Fellowship
2. Journety Church
3. Grace Community Church
