That's true. However in this case, I'm just excited that they are starting Contruction close to my house. No guarantee, but certainly seems like it gives me a decent chance to get service sooner rather than later.

yeah I would be excited too. I am sure you will luck out if they are starting so close to home.
I got this e-mail tonight. We'll see if I get the shirt.
"Hi there,
As you might have heard, construction is underway for Google Fiber in the Triangle area. Since we announced that we’re coming to the Triangle, we’ve been humbled by the support and enthusiasm of people throughout the region. We’re just starting, yet you’ve made us feel so welcome.
Which is why we wanted to do a little something to say thank you for having us. We designed this Google Fiber t-shirt that we’d love to share with you. Just give us your size, and we'll send one directly to you."
There have been crews along Chapel Hill Rd, close to the Park West shopping center, putting in cable. Also saw crews a week or 2 ago on Maynard near High House Rd in Cary. Anyone know if this is for Google?
I drove by the fiber hut location in Morriville earlier tonight and they site has survey markers all over it and a portable toilet on the site as well so looks like work on it should start soon.
I also placed my shirt order. I look forward to someone actually coming into our neighborhood to compete with TWC as AT&T has abandoned us since we had legacy BellSouth gear they refuse to replace.
Time will tell for sure to see if we get blessed with a fiberhood.
Regarding AT&T Gigapower, make sure they run a line to your house. They ran lines in our neighborhood but not our specific cul-de-sac. Without knowing that, I ordered the service only to have two guys show up and tell me they have to put in a work order to bore a hole underground to my house. It'll take a few weeks and is dependent on the speed of permits by the city of Raleigh. The guy said the way you know you have a line to your house is that they've dug small holes in your yard, you see spray paint on the street/yard, and/or you see a big coil of wire by the side of your house.
Lesson I learned: Just because I can order it and they send text messages/emails/phone calls confirming the order, it still doesn't mean I'll get it.
