I have searched this forum and not coming up a lot of great references so far. We need someone to paint two bedrooms (17 x 12) and (11.5 x 10). We've already painted the downstairs but with hubby's work schedule don't have time to do the rest of the upstairs. We figure it should be done in about 4 hours. We've already taped one room, and we're only needing walls painted (no baseboards, or molding). We're using a paint which only requires one coat, so as you can see it's an easy job, but we just don't have the time and we need to get the house on the market ASAP! We also need someone to come in on a saturday or sunday.
Price range: we don't want to spend more than $150. But for 4 hours (or less for a professional) that works out to slightly over $25 an hour. Paint is already purchased.
If anyone does this work or knows of someone who does, please post or DM me!!!! We need this done this coming weekend!!!!
I would look on craigslist and not go for the cheapest due to poor quality of work.
Go with the middle of the road price painter.
Hide anything of value due to they may scope your house out. Go ahead buy Painter sheets, brushes and rollers as well. Buy some painter tape and go ahead and remove outlet covers and place the tape in all areas you do not want mix.
I had this house I was working on 2 didnt show up so I had to go down my list and the one that did show did good work til he informed me he had to be home at certain time for his probation officer. I asked casually why was he on probation and he said for stabing someone. I felt so much more at ease, but he got the job done and listen to my instructions. I was just glad it was a new home and not furnished.
The reasons you cited (painter on probation, worried about theft) are reasons why we are leary about using someone from craigslist.
That is no different than looking on here for recommindations.
I could recommend him he very good with detail, sanding rough spots and clean lines if you want I can see if I have his phone number put somewhere.
Look in the phonebook or online phonebook call several companies tell them the square footage size and ask for a quote, and pick the one in the middle close to your price range.
I too would be leary of hiring of craigslist. I wouldn't want anyone in my home working that didn't carry appropriate insurance, and my bet is many people offering services on craigslist don't have it.
