Also if you need a handicap placard for your vehicle, get the form from DMV and have the physician fill it out for you, well, his part at least. Placards are $5.00 a piece and have to be renewed every 6 years I believe it is. About 3 months after you register the car/truck/trailer or what ever, you will get a bill for the property taxes in the county that you stated you were living in. If this bill is not paid before you have to renew the tags again, you will not be able to renew the tags until it is paid.
Interesting. I never was asked for proof that I lived in NC. I last registered a car in 2002. I did it in Forsyth County but the home address I gave them was in Ashe County.

It appears to me that you have to take a road test.

I am not certain how one registers a car that the bank still owns. I am hopeful that the insurance agent will direct me in the proper direction.

I've been using HPW / Coldwell Banker in all of my transactions and it is really working out well. You may or may not get the cheapest price but the convenience of one-stop-shopping when you know nobody in the area is priceless to me!
I went down and paid my property taxes on my vehicle and got my DL and tags and registered the truck all at the same time. I think it cost about 200 bucks.. Have a 2002 blazer, and that didnt seem expensive to me at all.
No road test as long as your license is good. Unless you are talking about other than a passenger vehicle. For an extra 35 bucks they will give you a registration on the spot or you can wait. It took maybe 2 weeks for mine to come in the mail.
There are many many new developments here in the Conway area. I am assuming both septic and public water. It is a booming town, with no signs of stopping. I am ecstatic about it here.
