Old thread or not, I never heard of this either. We had a child in college full time who filled out the FAFSA and never received a dime, grants or otherwise. We have an average income so sure it's not that we make a ton of money.

I'm only pointing out the age of the thread because a couple of responses have been directed at the OP, who posted four years ago.

If anyone has information about the supposed grant that revived this thread, please post it.

It was called the NC Legislative Tuition Grant Program. It was enacted in 1975 and repealed in 2011 by the NC General Assembly. You had to fill out a form separate from the FAFSA to receive it.

I have worked with tuition grants in NC public and private colleges. There is not a Governor's grant. The poster was probably thinking of the state's Legislative Tuition Grant for enrollment at private colleges in the amount of $1,800 per student. This grant program was repealed (ended) by the state legislature in 2011. I highly recommend going to the state's website of cfnc.org for information on financial aid for NC public and private colleges.
