We've all eaten at, seen or heard about Food Trucks. Has anyone ever hired one or more for an event? What about for a charity event? How does it work? Do they need permits? How did you choose? Any tips on how to do this for a Cary area event would be appreciated.

Different Food trucks have different policies, and the arrangements vary with different events. They all will have a minimum (usually about $1500) and may require a percentage if there is a fee to get into the event. They can answer your questions about permits. Best way to reach them is via email giving them the details of what you are looking for.

Here's a place to start, but by no means is it all inclusive: Food Truck Catering | Corporate Catering | Event Catering | Durham

Here's another thread with the same basic question, but note that a lot of the suggestions are outdated http://www.city-data.com/forum/ralei...k-rentals.html

I am pretty sure TOC requires permits and I also seem to recall a PTA event where the fire dept got involved - I think they have to be a certain distance from a structure since the motors give off CO2??? Can't really remember - but I'm sure the food trucks can assist you. They should know what they need to do.

Probably depends on the length and day of the event. I know all of the food trucks we got for work (M-F, 11:30 - 1:30) required $400 minimum.
