Has anyone been to Deans since they "reconfigured" to Deans Kitchen, or whatever? I liked the old format, so I'm hoping the quality has not changed.

On a related note, I'm looking for a decent dinner place to celebrate GF's birthday. She wants "seafood". Deans was at the top of my list, but I want to branch out some.

I was looking at Season's 52 (Seafood and other). Does anyone have any other recommendations? Anywhere in the triangle is fine. I'm in Cary, so a 45 minute radius includes Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

Are you looking for more of a fine dining experience? Deans would be my favorite. For a more casual experience, we love Full Moon Oyster bar in Morrisville.

Saltbox Seafood Joint. Any fish sandwich. Just unbelievable. There really is no comparison. And even better, he is getting ready to open a full service restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating walking distance to my house. Even though a fish sandwich is about $18, it is worth every penny.

I think 42nd Street Oyster Bar has the best menu & atmosphere around.

Been to full moon and like it, but looking for something a little more upscale.

Like I said, I have a reservation at Seasons 52. The food looks really good, seems semi-healthy, and one of the quirky things that's really appealing to me is the mini-desserts. She loves dessert, but we both think they are always too big.

Deans and/or 42nd Street would both be very appropriate. Of the two, I might reconsider 42nd street. (Deans is too close to home, we want to get out and away). Squids is another one on high consideration.

Really want to try this place. Just need to find time to get over to Durham to do it.

I like Blu seafood in Durham. Did a 7 course meal there once with wine pairing that was awesome.
