Locals seafood at the farmers market is the best place to buy fish and cook it yourself. Far better than any of the restaurants around here in my opinion.

- Concur, miss Kemps
- Concur that Farmers Market seafood place is good
- Mayflower: went twice. First time food was ok at best (1.5y ago), last month went again and it was quite good. So hit and miss perhaps?

If the OP wanted to buy seafood and cook it themselves, surely they wouldn't have asked for recommendations for a restaurant.

Wanted to see if there might any new news on restaurants in the area like these. Especially when not finding one on when on the coast (thanks Poppydog for the lead on Daddy Mac's) and still having that craving.

Since last post on this thread have been to the Farmer's Market place, not bad for a super casual setting and mostly fried stuff.

What if you're looking for not-fried seafood, a nicer atmosphere, and not Bonefish?

Come over to Chapel Hill and go to Squids. It's owned by the same folks that do Page Road Grill, 411 West, Mez, and used to do Spanky's now Lula's, the Chapel Hill Restaurant Group. It's better than Daddy Mac's, but doesn't have that ocean view! Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Chapel Hill, NC : Squids Seafood Restaurant, Market and Oyster Bar

There are many excellent seafood restaurants in Wilmington, too.
