Parents visiting from outside the US - and they love going to the flea market at the fairgrounds. However, it is closed now - can anyone suggest a similar flea market I can take them to - within 40 mins of Cary? Thank you in advance for your suggestions

D

Honestly I can't think of any comparable flea markets in the area. There used to be a big one out in Fuquay called the Pulga but from my limited and long ago experience it was more Hispanic based items and services. There is a large one on Rock Quarry rd in Raleigh but it's not as upscale and has been associated with illegal black market items such as bootleg videos ,sneakers ,jeans etc.. I always think its more of DR Dre's Compton Swap meet more then any sort of.open air bazaar.

It's not a flea market, but the Cheshire Cat in Raleigh is a huge antique mall/shop.

SuZanna's Antiques in north Raleigh is kind of like a flea market. There are different buildings and styles of offerings, and the goods range from fireplaces and doors to rose patterned plates. They even have handkerchiefs and jewelry.

I bought a small trunk, an oil lamp, HoneyCrisp apples from the mountains, and pumpkins on my last trip.

Anybody know why they closed Watson's flea market off Rock Quarry?

And anyone know of any plans to reopen it and/or the now closed Capital Blvd. Flea market?

Wake County Real Estate Data site shows that it's been sold to the Young Mens Christian Association. I assume that's the YMCA.

Can't be mad at a YMCA coming there.

Wake County needs another flea market, though.

Does anyone know if the flea market in Fuquay still open or any good? It was right past Five Points on 55, IIRC. I used to go there all the time as a kid, but have no idea if it's still there or what it's like now...
