Hi,

I'm new to the area; i live in the Brier Creek area. I don't miss much about New Jersey; out family is thrilled with our new life here thus far... The one thing I find a bit lacking are lunch destinations with outdoor dining where you don't feel like you are sitting on top of a parking lot, strip mall, busy road etc....

Are there any recommendations for outdoor dining where the ambiance is a bit more pleasant, ie. greenery, water, vista, pedestrian? I realize there are some places in downtown but was hoping for suggestions a bit closer to home...

Thanks so much,
LAR

I can't really think of anything in Brier Creek specifically, but I'd highly recommend Gonza's new Durham location. Really nice outdoor courtyard. Also in Durham, the Guglhupf cafe has a nice outdoor area. Lafayette Village in North Raleigh has quite a few restauarants that have outdoor seating, and it's all a very nice setting there. The Lynnwood Grill (might be the closest to Brier Creek that I can think of) has a rooftop dining area, I believe. I can't speak to the food there though, as I've never dined there. A few places at Southpointe have outdoor seating - Maggianos and Zinburger, although pedestrians are walking by pretty closeby. Most everything else off the top of my head that has outside dining areas do border roads or parking lots - namely those at Cameron Village and North Hills (although I don't find it to be too bad at either place).

Taverna Agora in downtown Raleigh has one of the best outdoor spots (IMO) in Raleigh. Very charming and great food.

Washington Duke Inn in Durham. I *think* they have outdoor seating. Beautiful views from the dining areas.

Serena's at Miami/54 is nice for sitting outdoors and isn't far from Brier Creek.
