I attended an Elite Yelp event last night at City Barbecue in Cary and learned they will be opening another location in south Durham on March 17th next year. It'll be on Hwy 54 in the Kroger Plaza right off Fayetteville Rd.

The food was delicious, btw!!

They are surprisingly good for a chain out of Ohio. I suggested they add Fried Okra, but have yet to see it on the menu.

Better yet, Back Yard (and their Crack and Cheese) should come to Cary.

City Barbeque seems to have trouble with consistency. There are a lot of Yelp reviews reporting dried-out meats, and that was my experience at the one in Garner. But my friend, who's also eaten at the one at Garner, said that his brisket was perfectly juicy. Otherwise, the food was very tasty, i.e. the meat had great flavor without adding sauce, but I found that I had to add some sauce because it was so dry.

I have a hard time feeding my family of 4 for less than $50 there. My 2 boys are only 10 and 6, so it's not like they eat that much. Seems steep for BBQ.

City BBQ is nice, better than eating fast food. But I find it expensive and as earlier poster put up, meats can be very inconsistent and overcooked.

If you're in Durham, can't imagine why you don't visit Q Shack?

I had the best ribs of my life the first time I went, and the 2nd was just okay. I ended up buying a kamado grill and make my own BBQ now so I wont bother with those restaurants anymore.
