I'm moving to Durham next month and one of the many things I'm looking forward to is having a home airport that is clean, bright, with a PA system that you can hear. I'm coming from NJ, and Newark Liberty is such a dump it's embarrassing!

Yes, they have 3 aircraft with another 30 on order. At present they're flying charters including sports teams and flights to Cuba. They say they will start scheduled service next year.

New Eastern's business plan is to 'codeshare' with us where we already go.

They don't actually really have a plan. Just lots of money to burn. And a neat livery.

They are probably getting a good deal on the MRJ's. I read an article last week that they finally had there first flight 3 years behind schedule. It's not even close to being certified. I believe there is a regional carrier with an aging fleet that is going to be their launch customer.

Do you fly for a major or regional? I hadn't heard about the codesharing.

One of the 'big 3'

There are regionals with MRJs on order but they don't comply with any carrier's scope clauses, and it's extremely doubtful scope with be relaxed moving forward. If anything it is being tightened. The best they can hope for is to resell the slots to someone else at this point. I think both SkyWest and TSA have them ordered, IIRC.

The new Embraer redesigned V2 will also be out and that is a known proven airframe with lots in service of the current model. The C series is an interesting plane but so far it's been a sales dud.

The EA livery was so much better when the aircraft had the base white paint. I liked the polished aluminum on AA but it never looked good on EA.
