Hi all,
Would love to take our little one "camping" but physically cannot do the tent and sleeping bag type of camping. Can anyone recommend a nice, clean camping cabin /campground within a 3 to 4 hour drive? We love the mountains, so west/northwest of the triangle is definitely preferred.
Thanks!

There are two very nice KOA campgrounds in Wilmington and New Bern that may fit the bill during the summer months, and many more in the western part of the state (longer drive, though). My family and I have stayed in Wilmington a number of times. I don't have firsthand knowledge of the campgrounds in western NC, except Rutledge Lake in Fletcher, NC. We stayed a month there once and loved it! Have fun, wherever you go!

Hanging Rock State Park and Morrow Mountain State Park both have cabin rentals within the park. We've stayed in each (they are basically the same) and had a good time. Prices are very reasonable.

Mayo Lake in Person County has some cabins by the lake and some activities. I have never stayed, but have driven through to check them out. Looked nice, clean, and fun

Creekside in Bat Cave NC is the bomb. Small enough for a family with electrical and gas heat. Bring out door camping gear for cooking on the picnic table, extra extension cord with power strip and Christmas lights for indirect lighting. Ask my wife how I won her over. (electric blanket is a plus)
