FWIW, I'm not "anti" Versteeg.

"Reasonable cost" being a key term. Unfortunately, I think it is time to get into the free agent market and goalie shop again, and that will be a chunk of change, too.

I'm routing for the Canes to beat up the other Eastern conference teams, except on March 26th

Meh. Actually, I'm OK with the Canes winning on 3/26, too.

I'll disagree on goalie shopping. There's really not anybody available in free agency this offseason that interests me. With Cam playing behind probably the best defense he's had in front of him since 2005-06, I'm OK with another year of Ward/Lack while Altshuller gets a full year in the 'A, letting Nedeljkovic plays his first full pro season in either the 'A or the 'E, and letting Tirronen get another season of seasoning. Here's who's available in free agency at the end of the season:

  • Niklas Backstrom (MIN)
  • Jhonas Enroth (LAK)
  • Jonas Gustavsson (BOS)
  • Jonas Hiller (CGY)
  • Carter Hutton (NSH)
  • Chad Johnson (BUF)
  • Anders Lindback (ARI)
  • Al Montoya (FLA)
  • Antti Raanta (NYR)
  • Kari Ramo (CGY)
  • James Reimer (SJS)
  • Ben Scrivens (MTL)
  • Alex Stalock (TOR)
  • Cam Talbot (EDM)
  • Cam Ward (CAR)
  • Jeff Zatkoff (PIT)

After the season.....that's what I heard. Don't think he's staying in LA

Good input. Durability is a concern to me, too.
What would you expect the price to be for Cam for a year or two?

Carolina is about a year too late. Martin Jones would have been a great pickup last year.

Losing faith in this team, as far as a playoff appearance goes. Getting the OT point was nice, but Canes really need to put together a 3-4 game win streak in order to have a chance. Oh well, I'll be at NHL playoff games regardless.

They just gave Brody Sutter his first NHL callup.
The way guys score in their first NHL appearance this year, they should have at least one of them debut every game.
