Local media reports the closing is coming up.

I wonder how residents and Cary/Morrisville PD are going to keep drivers from Davis Drive area from using:
  1. Crabtree Crossing Parkway
  2. Left on Ridge Creek Drive
  3. Left on Preston Grande Way
  4. Left on Rainbrook Drive

(ends up at the light at James Jackson & Cary Parkway)

to get to Panera, Target etc. from Davis Dr.

I bicycled it last week. Lots of speed bumps, pedestrian crossing, school buses.

They can't stop anyone from driving on those roads. The signed detour will not include them though, so many will just go the official detour routes.

I often need to get to that intersection from my home on Morrisville Carpenter and I will go that route when traffic is bad on 54 now.

What construction is occurring at the at-grade crossing? Is related to Morrisville Parkway being widened to four lanes and being completed from North Carolina Highway 55 to Green Level Church Road?

They're building a bridge for the railroad.

What are they doing for the detour? Last time they closed it for a few days to a week- it was Crabtree Crossing.
My kids both go to school on Morrisville Pkwy. and to get to work, I have to go all the way down the parkway so guess I will be working from home 6 months or so

Considering how bad Morrisville-Carpenter/Aviation is even without this detour traffic, I can't even imagine what things are going to be like. And I'm sure McCrimmon and 54 will somehow become an even bigger mess.

It seems odd to me that they could not figure out a way to do this project without completely shutting down the road there for 6 months.

The official detour is 54/Cary Parkway/High House/Davis. Adds a bit to the trip, doesn't it?!

It is amazing that this was the best solution that they could come up with. That is a pretty major thoroughfare to close for 6 months.

I work off of Weston and live in West Cary and it looks like I'll be taking 40 to 540. Not only do we get to be inconvenienced but now they'll get our toll money as well!
