There are a few posters here who live in The Park At West Lake-I just moved there from Northwest Cary in November.
The location is really ideal, especially given the larger (for Cary, anyway) lots and slightly more rural feel. We are 10 minutes from Crossroads, 15 from Beaver Creek, and less than 1/2 hour to RDU. There is a Harris Teeter less than 2 miles away at Holly Springs and Sunset Lake Roads.
We used to live in Cary Park, and honestly we felt both more isolated there and more negatively affected by the increase in traffic and road widening in that area.
The elementary and middle schools are situated right at the edge of the neighborhood. There is also an excellent daycare at the neighborhood entrance.
The neighborhood has lots of families with young children. Everyone we have met has been really nice and welcoming, although we don't have next door neighbors on either side yet (both homes are under construction).
So far we feel like it was a good decision-PM me if you would like more specifics.

Three things that kept us from buying in Park at Westlake:

1. New construction seemed to all be down by the water treatment plant. Shielded by trees in the summer, but rather ugly to look at all winter

2. For being out "in the country", the lots were pretty small (1/3 acre)

3. #1 and #2 didn't really matter because we couldn't afford the homes in that subdivision anyway

What do you mean by "out in the country"?? Where I live now I consider "out in the country", because everything is at least 30 minutes away...very inconvenient!!! What was the range of home prices??

Sorry, I should have used Funky Chicken's words of "slightly more rural feel" .

There is a shortcut that I use that saves a couple of minutes-
Optimist Farm to Pierce Olive Road (right turn)
Pierce Olive to end-CROSS Holly Springs Road and get on Arthur Pierce
Arthur Pierce to end-go right on Kildaire Farm (just below Ten Ten)

I don't drive THAT fast!!!
