I have friends in both Cary and Morrisville and we were discussing the differences...while Cary offers more residential services, Morrisville can't because it is very small when compared to the size of Cary and don't have enough resources! Why not just include those few Morrisville square miles under Cary's jurisdiction so the residents get more benefits and there is no need for a separate town administration as a whole! The resources can be better utilized for other resident beneficial services!! Cary is 55 square miles, Morrisville is 8 square miles, how hard is it to mange 8 more miles. There is a huge saving in administration cost. Cary has everything well established, so it won't be a complicated transition. Though we don't want to forget historic Morrisville, we can still have the address remain same just bring the entire administration under Cary. Makes sense to me!!
Honestly, the way their borders overlap, there is lots to be said, logically speaking, for them to merge. Both town's service providers drive through parts of the other while performing their duties. The water systems already are one.
Not even taking into account whether people would want to do it or not which many wouldn't, the way the laws in the state are governing this stuff, its pretty much impossible.
I just want Morrisville to show fireworks on July 4, not the danged day before. If it being swallowed up by Cary would facilitate that....but no, I'd be stuck with trying to find parking in downtown Cary which means forget it.
"We've always done it that way," I was told, when I asked why. I was polite and didn't ask them if they had driven a horse to work that morning.
(I live right on the border between the two towns. Morrisville is across the street from me. I honestly see no reason for either town to annex the other).
So have some of your top Morrisville Militiamen annex Cary. How hard could that be. Attack when all the families are at their pool clubs.
I live in Holly Springs. I trust Apex's Militiamen to defend the advance.
