We were moving and I sold almost $5000 worth of furniture, electronics, etc.
There were very few items I couldn't sell, mostly kitchen stuff.
I recommend:
-set the price at about 1/3 of what you can buy it for new
-take numerous photos and measurements
-be negotiable, people will haggle with you
-offer to deliver if you can - that usually means no haggling
-have it out and ready to go
-take a deposit and give them a drawer or other major part as collateral
People get busy and decide not to come... I tell them to give me a call when they are on their way over. 9 times out of 10 they show up. Most of the time it is a very nice person who shows up.

Heh, I just bought a bed for my daughter last night, and am going to pick up some speakers tonight. Then I'll be selling a bookcase, baby crib and some other stuff...loves me some Craigslist.
If you're selling, here's what I look for:
1. A good description. Model #'s, size, weight.
2. a CLEAR picture.
3. Don't be greedy. 1/2 new price is a starting point if in great condition.
4. Spell check your ad. If you spell stereo 'sterio' (actually saw that one yesterday) I'm going to be very hesitant to contact you.
5. A polite, timely response to my inquiries.
I've had nothing but good experiences, but I'm pretty careful. If I get a bad vibe from someone, contact ends, but that's very rare.

I love buying and selling on craigslist. I sell on eBay and sometimes things move faster on craigslist. I never invite people to my home. I always meet them in a public place, usually with cameras like in front of Walmart or somewhere like that. I've had a stalker and it pays to be safe.

We posted a boat and sold it the very next day! I was surprised at the number of responses. Wish I knew about Craigslist prior to moving here.

I'm also reading the stuff in the pet section and If anyone is looking to adopt an animal ya'll should check the pets people have on there. There are so many out there looking for homes. Just thought I'd add that in to.

When I put up furniture I needed to get rid of and listed it as FREE it all went. I wanted to sell three items and was only able to get paid for one, but gave the other two away.
