When I read this post I could have sworn you were referencing Roy Rogers and sure enough I went back two pages and there it was. I hardly eat fast food. Maybe once a month if traveling and even then it's just a small burger with water, but I love me some Roy Rodgers. They did close a lot of the stores in the DC/MD/VA area years back, but now are expanding again. I'd love one here

I worked at both BK and McDonalds while in college. Their key to consistency was that everything was provided by the same distributor. The only thing that individual stores could source were buns and the buns were made to the same recipe as all other stores.

Krystal. I *guess* I'd settle for a White Castle, but I swear they aren't as good, even if they are basically identical food. And a Turkish restaurant that has manti.

And yes, a Shake Shack would be nice. As would a light rail system.

I hate that too.....the chains usually stick around....some of my casualties of war:

Natty Greene's
Red Room (tapas bar)
Tir Na Nog
Napper Tandy's
Klara's (Czech cuisine)
Savoy
The Oxford (brunch)

Most of the old ones don't, but the newer ones are starting to. Not that I ever go to 7-Eleven for gas (anymore).

Oh, and I tried Circle K's slushy thing, per my earlier statement. It quenched my thirst... but it's no Slurpee.

I like Sheetz better than 7-11 or QT

There's a chain of stores in Texas called Buc-ee's. I want one of those here

Let's make a distinction between national, regional and statewide chains. Because as PDF said, not all chains are alike. But generally I frown upon chains.
