Watching golf tournament on TV. Sponsor is DEAN & DELUCA. Apparently they have a store in Charlotte. They interviewed DEAN & DELUCA executive at golf tournament. He spoke of expansion. Apparently a New York originated company but has expanded internationally. Anyone familiar with them and their products and any chance they may expand to Raleigh?

They're probably the original "fine foods" store. Big in NYC (obviously as that is where they started).

You have A Southern Season. No need for Dean & Deluca.

No comparison IMO. There are several stores in NYC, the one on Madison Ave is incredible.
A Southern Season is nice but nowhere near a D & D.

I've been to several in NY and one in George town. They are pricey... I do think it's similar to Southern Season but even more fancier. I see it in the way I see Williams Sonoma; good place to get a nice expensive gift but not a place I'd use for regular shopping. I might get a coffee and snacks during shopping in a place like SouthPoint or Cameron Village, but if we'd get some place we don't have in the Triangle yet, my vote still goes to Wegmans

They are a great establishment. Been to them in NYC and in G'town as well. Upscale, great stuff. I would welcome them into the Triangle area if they choose to do so.

I used to go to the one in NYC for lunch once in a blue moon. They had delicious food. But yes, definitely pricey.

I went to the store in Charlotte several years ago. I was not impressed. It was, from what I remember, a small deli type restaurant with a few more items for sale. I'm sure the NY stores are larger.
