Magnolia Place
Is anyone familiar with the subdivision Magnolia Place in Southeast Durham. It looks like a nice neighborhood, reasonably priced, with an easy commute to RTP.
Is it an area that has good restaurants within a 10-15 minute drive and is it a safe area?

It is nicely located, close to brier creek, so you would have lots of restaurants, grocery stores, etc. I have a friend who moved there last year (in a resale home) and she really likes it. They do not have kids, so I don't know about the schools, sorry!

My friend likes the neighborhood, she works at nc state and is in law school in durham, and her husband works in various locations in the triangle. They have been quite happy there with the commute the the amenities that are close by.

Hi Baltimore 7
I feel that that area of Durham is somewhat a 'hidden gem'. You are so close to RTP, Brier Creek and the airport, yet pay a fraction of the price for a similar sized house that you'd pay just over the border in Wake County.
A good choice IMHO.

I agree with Big M. In my opinion this area, it's "hidden treasure" in Durham.
I don't live in Magnolia place, but have friends who live in the neighborhoods off the Lumley Road (Centex homes) and they just love it.
It's an easy commute to RTP, Brier Creek, I-40 and few minutes to the airport. In the nearby plaza (T.W. Alexander) you have some locally owned restaurants (grill, Japanese, Chinese), coffee shop, hardware store, Food Lion, 24hrs fitness, etc. There's also golf course walking distance.
However, I don't know about schools.
Hope that helps.
