Wildwood Green is a good players course. The course has a reputation as being short, although that is misleading b/c it is a par 70 and can stretch to ~6700 yards. They have full practice facilities (range, putting green, short game area, bunker). They have a ton of traffic (rounds played per year) and it can be difficult even for members to get a good tee time on the weekend.
Wildwood Green is a fun layout. I love to play there BUT it does get busy. Play from the tips...it's not that easy. Good greens. Some hardpan on the edges.
For anyone who was curious, I ended up joining Mill Creek in Mebane. It's a super-easy 30 minute drive from my place in SW Durham (i.e. shorter than the drive to Pittsboro or even SE Raleigh for a place like the Neuse)
At 1800 initiation and 136/month for a family membership, it BLEW away the competition which were across the board 50+ dollars/month more and higher initiation.
Played the course Saturday for the first time and loved it - the greens for winter are awesome, and went back the next day to pony up for the membership.
If anyone plays out there or wants to play out there, drop me a line - my guests get discounts and I can either play by myself (rusty 4 handicap) or with my fiancee (more often...she's a beginner but enjoys the game).
Hillandale is horrible course. Has a great golf shop. they will close according to the sunset time on the almanac. I have been asked to leave on the 18th hole when I only had a 15ft-er to finish 18 holes. Worst policy!
