I don't mind natural organic material. The sharks pee and poo in the ocean and I'm sure people do, too, but it's more dispersed. You don't hear about brain eating amoebas in the ocean, either. I'd much rather have a day at the beach than a day at a chlorine reeking, kids shrieking wave pool. BTDT, I know which I prefer.

Whitewater center had the health issue; not Carowinds (which has the wave pool). The irony is that Whitewater had a health issue because their main water supply was natural river water. That particular amoeba thrives in warm water and slow flowing water. It can be found in warm natural waters or untreated pools. One bit of good news is that it can't survive salt water (plus 1 for the oceans). However, it can't survive in chemically treated pools either (Whitewater center did not use proper chemical treatment, they tried ultrasonic treatment instead).
People have died from this micro organism in natural waters around the world. However, when death comes from nature, it's not as news-worthy as death from a "safe" center.
That's cool if you prefer the ocean waters; I do too depending on my mood. However, I'd never try to argue that oceans are cleaner and safer. Anything from bacteria to shark attacks can occur in the ocean.
