Did anyone else see the firetrucks on 540 this morning? They were parked on the bridges over the Northbound/Eastbound lanes with their lights on. I wonder if there was a funeral procession of some sort coming up...

540 is a pretty long expressway, going through at least 5 cities/towns....

There's a live burn training session out that way tomorrow. Maybe they're prepping for that.

They were parked on the bridges of Lumley Rd, Leesville Rd, Ray Rd, and Six Forks where I got off the highway.

No sirens that I could hear, but they were lit up for sure

Ah, I was thinking 540 over in Cary for some reason. Just a guess, but wonder if they wanted a visible presence up in hopes of deterring the rock throwers.

Not sure they would use firetrucks for that purpose. And the rock throwing seems to be late at night, so I'm not sure their presence in the morning would be an effective deterrent.

I also saw a fire truck with its lights on, heading east on 540, with a hearse immediately behind it. It made me think (just guessing) perhaps a firefighter had died and they were out to show their respect. Many in the firefighting community come out in droves to support their own in those circumstances.
