The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Hurricanes 7-1. It is a good game if you like the Penguins.

Jeff Skinner and Cam Ward chose to become goons with their shenanigans. Their unsportsmanlike conducts should earn them fines and/or suspensions.

You can't keep running Ward out every single game - he looks like he needs a break after the last few games. Luckily, the All-Star Break is coming up but still......

The Hurricanes will need to address goaltenders long term. Ward is the best goaltender the Hurricanes have. Sadly, Ward's performance is not that good to keep the Hurricanes in contention.

Arturs Irbe had back-to-back seasons with the Canes of 75 and 77 games. But he was a strange guy. Not many goalies can do that. The irony is, Ward got his chance in 2006 because Martin Gerber had run out of gas by the time the playoffs began. Garber did 60 regular-season games. Ward is on a pace to do more than that.

Nedeljkovic is the "goalie of the future" but his numbers this season have been mediocre.

Ward re-signed with the Hurricanes in the off-season to a two-year deal. If the Hurricanes can improve their play to be within postseason contention, Ward will not move. If the Hurricanes miss the playoffs, Ward will lead goaltenders in trade talks.

Nedeljkovic needs to step up his game.

We'll see Leighton tonight against CBJ.
I don't expect him to throw any punches....

Michael Leighton stopped 17 of 20 shots in the Hurricanes' 3-2 loss against the Blue Jackets. Sebastian Aho (12) and Justin Faulk (9) scored for the Hurricanes.

I am surprised Jeff Skinner was in the lineup. His shenanigans against the Penguins should have earned him a suspension. The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has its own issues.

I missed what Skinner did. Sure did see the 4 minutes, which no one with an "A" on their jersey should aspire to.

Four straight losses but some of the teams competing for a wildcard slot have been equally inept over the last week. Still, the 2017 NHL Post Season Probabilities probability has fallen from about 46% before the losing streak to 29%.

It's amazing how much easier it is to watch a 3-2 loss than a 7-1 and a 6-1 smearing....
