A very interesting article from Zillow (Seattle), with interactive map powered by Tableau (Seattle), giving a peek inside the minds of people regarding where they might be interested in moving to and from. Not surprising, Raleigh is a popular place for outsiders to scope out. Surprisingly, Raleigh ranks fairly high in the number of local people who are possibly looking to leave. The quadrant graph near the bottom of the article sums it up nicely.

Curious to see where local people looking to leave would want to move to.

Many people here work in the tech industry and can and do get other jobs and promotions elsewhere.

Oh I'm aware of that - still interested though since most people move here, not away from here haha.

That so many of the lookers are staying within the region strikes me as indicative of less than a mass migration to get out of Dodge, and more work/practical related.
Wilmington, in all likelihood is vacation home related or retirement planning. With some folks buying houses for UNCW students.

id prefer not to live here

If I had my druthers i'd move to the triad, one of the border mtn communities somewhere along a river

I think it's getting obvious the triad is sorta more capturing that lifestyle we had 8-12 yrs ago that we're growing out of

but obviously i'd rather be closer to the beach/mtns/ or more rural/space amenities

who wants to live in a friggen subdivision?

There are always going to be natives that leave. That's true no matter how great the place is.

What in the world could the draw to Greenville, NC be that that many people are looking at it?
