Don't worry - in 4 or 8 years we will find some terrible thing that Roy Cooper did and everybody will want to vote the new Republican star into office. Such is politics unfortunately - no genuine and good people left anymore.

Mmm... The Republicans have had their long-hoped-for shot, and I think we will have to see how, if, they have blown it in the eyes of the electorate.

And, honestly, McCrory did inherit some messes, and is leaving the state in better financial shape than when he came into office.

Putting aside how horribly gerrymandered this state is, I am not sure how you can say this was the will of the people. Any bill that is rushed through and passed hours after being introduced without any public review, comment or discussion does not represent the people. If the GA had truly wished to pass for the people, there might have been thoughtful discourse. They knew very well what they were trying to hammer through. Now the people are paying the price.

Every business has a choice where to operate. They're not superceding the will of the people. They're simply not willing to fill the coffers of hate.

Agree he is saving the state a lot of money by not trying to keep those ungratefull teachers from moving out of state for better paying teacher jobs.

Anybody who has children in schools knows NC teachers are just a greedy bunch.

BTW a 5% increase is still about 10% to little.

And yet the NCAA had no problem with playing the championship game in Houston.

I support teachers and higher salaries.
And, providing aides, and materials, from school budgets.
But, there are other aspects to financially managing the state.

So, I am curious where Governor Cooper will take us.

NCAA, more concerned with boys and girls sharing bathrooms while ignoring academic fraud and University cheating. And yet they have no problem playing in Texas...which has the same law! Double standard.

It's hilarious how many people have latched onto the emotional aspect of a bathroom, and ignoring the core reason for all of this to begin with... Which was a renegade city making laws for itself while ignoring NC laws. You can't just have that happening. It has little to do with bathrooms. All of that came the day after because you know... need emotions to get the armchair outrage going in a populace.

Cooper will probably just run this like he has anything else while calling for transparency... Like support for destroying public records under Easley, or dragging his feet on the SBI investigation. No thanks.

Hm.
I had not heard of that specific rule, but have been clearly aware that localities in NC are strictly controlled by Raleigh in terms of powers, etc.

And, that is the crux of it all.
Charlotte overstepped.

It all makes for a great public Q&A and debate, for sure.
