Default renting without a job

Hi , my family will be moving to the area in June. My husband is in freelance and won't have a job starting out. (i'm at home with the kids). does anyone know if landlords or rental companies will rent to transplants without a job yet?

Are individual owner landlords more flexible than rental companies? Are there rules, like you need a bigger deposit or something? how common is this? Any answers or experiences with this much appreciated.

Find an apartment complex that will let you use your previous year's tax return as proof of income requirements. My landlord accepted my return as proof of income.

You can also show cash reserves in excess of a certain multiple of monthly rent - ours was I think 3 months.

Call ahead and ask, but I believe this is common - not ALL will allow it, but you should have no problem finding a good crop of places that do from which you can choose

Hi I came down from NY without a job and I am renting of course, I had proof of reserves. Well, guess what?? Big mistake. I wish I never relocated and I still don't have a job. Stay where you are. The grass is not greener on the other side unless you have a ton of money an plan to buy a house. That is the big deal house buying. I want to find something so I can return to NYC again hopefully by the summer, if not sooner. I don't like it here. It's boring a no personality state.
