While it was a nice trip to see the various furniture outlets, we came back as empty-handed as we did the week before from Glenwood.
When I hear things "furniture capital", "outlet", etc. I think of lower prices from what I saw. Nice stuff if you want custom made and high-end items, but there seems to be quite a gap between between flimsy Costco-level furniture or IKEA or and the like, and simple, reasonably-priced furniture that doesn't look like it came from my great-grandmother's house.
Are there other outlet areas or places I have missed?
I should say upfront that we didn't make it to IHFC, perhaps we should have started with that.
and while I don't own any of it, I'm surprised to hear you say that Costco furniture is flimsy. They've always been real good about "return for any reason" and if I dropped a grand on furniture and it wore out in year or two, I'd be returning it.
Green Front Interiors in Raleigh is awesome. Wide variation in prices and an entire room full of rugs. Can get anything from a couple hundred dollars to 5,000 or more depending on what you're looking for.
Flimsy Costco furniture? Ah, no. Our experience with multiple Costco furniture purchases has been very good.
My favorite couch of all time was from Costco, 100% leather made by Natuzzi. I hated selling it when we left phoenix, but it wouldn't have fit our much smaller house. Used that thing for five years, then sold it. Looked brand new.
I second Furnish This in Durham. We just bought a bedroom set for our daughter and dining room set. Beautiful name brand furniture at a great price. They are very customer friendly and knowledgable.
