Harris Teeter pulling back on Gas Rewards. Too bad, as I have milked it hard.
$40 for a $50 card has been easy to love.

Received this email today.

Dear Very Important Customer,

On November 2, 2016 Harris Teeter’s Gas Rewards program will no longer be available at your store. We appreciate and thank our valued VIC card members who have supported our Gas Rewards programs. Any rewards earned through November 1 will be valid for redemption through December 6, 2016 at any current participating Harris Teeter location.

We thank you again for your loyalty and hope you’ll allow us to continue to serve your shopping needs.

Sincerely,

Harris Teeter Customer Relations

We are just getting a Harris Teeter gas station over on sunset and holly springs road. This is not good to hear.

Wish I knew of this earlier - how does it compare with the Costco card and gas discount?

With gas at $2.30, a 20% discount takes the cost to $1.84.
The Shell at Preston Corners in Cary has added another $0.03 discount.
$1.81.

I don't know the Costco price off the top of my head, but it isn't as low as or lower than $1.81, is it?

Additionally, the gift cards are available for Shell, Exxon/Mobil, and BP brands. And, they are good at any of those stations, so I can use them anywhere on a road trip.
I'm going to miss the program. It has been a good inducement to continue to shop at HT. I am sure it is costly for them.

Costco was $1.81 before the pipeline break, now it's $2.12-ish. With the Costco card it's 4% off.

Well, yes.
The Preston Corners Shell was about $0.25 less before the pipeline break.
Last winter, I calc'd that I was paying about $1.57/gallon.

Maybe H-T will now cut the dumb promotions that attract coupon queens but penalize all with stupid prices on many items.
