The modernist(?) house that used to be at the south corner of East Chatham and Urban has been moved. It's now at its new location at 212 East Chatham, across from Pizzeria Faulisa.
Per latest Mayor's Blog (under "Friday -Cary Work Retreat"), it appears the $51 million Northwoods proposed mixed-use development for the southeast corner of W. Chatham and S. Harrison is a no-go. I guess the dark dingy low-slung brick building, that looks like old apartments, with the spooky breezeways that are scary to walk trough even during the day, is here to stay. Be interesting to see how many more businesses cycle through it (145 W Chatham). Latest is a business called Fit Inspired Living. Could be so much more.... DT Cary living (La Farm across street) + straight shot up Harrison to Weston businesses, SAS, I40, and Umstead State Park. Meanwhile FV is moving full speed ahead with their $50 million mixed use project close to DT FV. Just doesn't make any sense.

It must be dirt cheap to rent there. I can't see why else anyone would choose to rent in a location that's had tarps on the roof for who knows how long.
Lots of interesting stuff in that Harold’s Blog. The transit plan, the next phase of the park, mixed used at the current library, wrapping the new parking deck with condos, etc.

Be interesting to see when it is completed. Cuz right now the parking deck is totally dominating that whole park area.... looming over the library. I don't like how the library is not tall enough to "hide" the parking garage from the front. I know it is still under construction but seems like an oversight if parking deck is left to tower over the library.
By bowing out, the Church may get something they like even less than working with the developers.
Yep, like some less expensive and junkier development that doesn’t care at all about impacts on them because it won’t need to. And we will all get more of the same less than best use of land in a town or city core.
