I'm thinking consignment or antique shops. I understand Replacements near Greensboro does not pay very well at all. Hate to go through hassle of packing and shipping with e bay. Suggestions?
I know someone who a few years ago didn't like the quote she received from Replacements. So she put it up for sale on ebay and Replacements bought it from her off ebay. Since she lives in the area, they sent someone to pick it up from her. Not sure if this is typical, but I found it interesting.

This is great info. I recently received a quote from Replacements since I wanted to sell china to them since we are moving to Raleigh. Then I realized they are based outside of the area!?? But their offer was so low compared to what things are selling for on Ebay. I think I will put it all up on Ebay as one lot now and see if I can squeeze more money out of them! Haha, thanks for this post.
For buying and selling, I've used several of these apps in the Triangle area.
LetGo (which merged with Wallapop.) Not much success and I got rid of the app.
I've had much better luck with OfferUp and Craigslist. But the listings on LetGo and OfferUp are mostly crap. A lot of stuff for $20 and under and junky used cars. By comparison, the stuff on CL is Neiman Marcus.
Ironically, I tried to buy some fine china off CL about 2 years ago. We couldn't come to an agreement about price.

Wondering how you handled that? Did the seller invite you to her home to inspect every piece? I can see meeting in the parking lot of the police department to sell a camera or bicycle but how do you do it with 12 place settings of china?

Bluehorseshoe, they are located at exit 132 off I-85/40 on the east side of Greensboro. I drive by it often so I know the exit. About an hour-ish drive from Raleigh.

We never got that far. I was willing to drive to Wilmington (where she lived) and probably would have suggested a casual restaurant for inspection and exchange.
But ultimately, she got insulted at the price I was willing to pay - largely because her set included pieces I didn't want. I offered a fair price for what I wanted (about 80% of what she had), even offered to let her keep the pieces I didn't want or need. But sge decided she'd rather keep everything in a box in her garage instead.
I contacted her about a year later. She still had the dishes, still insisting on the same price.
YEP sometimes we put way too high sentimental value on things we want to sell. end up cutting off our nose to spite our face.
