Does anyone know if there are any free or volunteer / student / University Dental School, etc....type clinics or services around Wake or surrounding counties?

I haven't been able to afford any dentist visits since 2009. I had insurance back then and after one cleaning paying full price out of pocket, they said they wouldn't keep cleaning my teeth anymore unless I paid for the whole series of X-rays which would have been out of the question (and has continued to be that way for the last 9 years) - so sadly, despite my wanting to keep my teeth healthy and clean - that was the last time I saw a dentist.

Now, I have a loose lower front tooth that I am very worried about and don't know what to do.

Try calling Urban Ministries for the Open Door clinics they offer. If they don't have a dental one I'm sure they'll be able to refer you to a low or no cost dentist. I'm sure google will find their contact info for you.

You could try the dental schools in the area like UNC.

Try Wake Tech. I received a message from a neighbor who is a student there through Nextdoor which said:

" It is only $20 for x-rays, cancer screening, cleaning, polishing, and fluoride. It is a time commitment and treatment can take on an average between 2-4 visits, being about 3 hours per visit. Also, it must be at least 6 months since your last cleaning"

Advance Community Health (part of the county services) has a new dental clinic. I believe it is referral based and you must already be in their system.

Awesome info for OP vs "search the forum" - thanks. I didn't know that WakeTech did this. Does anyone know if there are programs to link up homeless folks with this service? For $20 a pop, stuff like this could make a huge difference for that community.
