I'd give Jim a call:

Wind Instrument Repair: Woodwind & Brass Instruments - Raleigh NC - JimFixesHorns

I used him a few years back to do some work on my trombone. He operates out of his place in Cameron Village or at least he did the last time I used him. He works on both wood winds and brass instruments. I found him to do excellent work at a fair price.

I noticed somebody mentioned Marsh Woodwinds. Just wanted to point out they are no longer in business.

I don't own a trumpet but have three trombones. Jim has done right by me.

Thanks for the suggestions..
It is a nice Trumpet that was loaned by a friend for a grandkid for years.
I want a good cleaning & checkup before returning.

Ah, that makes sense. Very kind of you to make sure it's in good shape on its return.

My thought, too, but I believe they, also, closed down in the past year

I didn't know they had closed. I guess Rodney was long due for his retirement, although I'll bet he's still busy doing something.

I believe it was related to being forced out of the space (which had happened before, of course), but maybe they just got tired of being shuffled around all over town. I wouldn't be surprised if he still sees longtime clients on the side, but I dunno.

I remember there being an instrument shop somewhere near Green Rd/Millbrook Rd/Capital Blvd. I can't remember the name. Is that place still opened?

I took it to Jim of JimFixesHornes.

Very nice guy that I feel lucky to have found.
I will post a recommendation after I get the trumpet back but
I am pretty sure it is in excellent hands..

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions..
