I'd go either with frozen pizza (second Trader Joe's, theirs is quite good) or just order a good pizza and heat it up a little. IMHO baking in commercial ovens makes a difference in taste. Baking a pre-made pizza at home kind of defeats the purpose.
Or just make your own. It's really not that hard with store bought dough or crusts. TJ also sells pizza dough and all the stuff you'd need. And it's a bargain for the amount you can make.
mentioned earlier, but if you are going this route, I believe Aldi has the best deal for (not-frozen) pizza's, and like OP said, you can cook them one at a time.
I'm not a huge fan of Papa Murphy's, but the quality is definitely 'different', so OP will likely have to choose...
I've tried the cooked HT pizzas and they are by far the worst pizza I have ever consumed. Would prefer a frozen pizza to one of the ones they are cooking in their new "hot pizza" departments.
Ive never had a cooked pizza from HT. I have only tried their take and bake. I would guess there would be a huge difference in taste comparing a pizza fresh from the oven compared to one that's been sitting under a heat lamp.
The only "take and bake" pizza I've ever tried was Papa Murphy's and that was only because my 6 year old grandson loves it and this kids only eats about 4 things!
It was ok for a very thin crust pizza. The veggies were fresh. It reminds me of the new places opening up like Mod Pizza and Blaze Pizza, where they make the pizza as you go through the line and it is ready 5 minutes later. The nice thing about Papa Murphy's is that you get to take it home and bake it yourself.
It isn't NY Pizza, for sure!
My daughter likes the pizza that you take home and bake from Lowes' Foods but I didn't care for it.
I do not care for Pappa John's or Domino's but it is because I just don't like the taste of their sauce.
We recently had a deluxe pizza from Harris Teeter cooked while we shopped. It was very cheesy and the toppings were good but the crust was limp. It wasn't undercooked, the bottom was light brown but it just seemed too thin to support the toppings. It was on sale for 7.99 and was large but probably wouldn't try it again.
