My oldest daughter is a rising 9th grader in the fall. Rather than staying home most of the summer, I'd like for her to do some volunteer work in Apex, Cary, Holly Springs area.

Do you have recommendations on what organizations have teen volunteer opportunities in the summer?

Thanks.

My niece and nephew volunteered at WakeMed but they have a very specific window where you can apply. If you are outside that window you are SOL.

What about city of raleigh summer camps? Maybe they have a junior counselor role? Or a volunteer swim coach for a neighborhood pool?

Counselor In Training programs are abundant in this area. I'd suggest the OP reach out to the Cary or Kraft Y's about their CILT programs at one of their daycamps. And when I say that...I mean have their teen be the one to email the directors...they need to take that initiative to be considered for most CILT programs.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll contact the towns and YMCA for counselor positions.

I volunteered in a Nursing Home in High School. Not around here, but I did 40 hrs/year.
