I was wondering if you can tell me where in the triangle (prefer Durham/Orange county side) an adult can go for an evaluation for autism spectrum disorder. Most of the places I have contacted only do evaluations on children.

TEACCH can apparently do it, but requires that you go somewhere else first for a broad assessment to rule out other causes for difficulties.

Maybe TEACCH could provide you with some names of psychologists or clinics who could do do the full assessment (assess for autism and rule out other causes)?

You could also contact the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities. Their website says that they have an adolescent and adult autism clinic.
The Carolina Institute - Services

Duke Center for Autism may be another options:
Diagnostic and Consultation Services | Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development

You could also contact Dr. Aurelie Welterlin in Durham. I have never used her clinical services but her website says that she sees both children and adults:
Spectrum Services | Services

Thanks. I filled out the form for CIDD. It says to expect 4 weeks for them to get back to you about if they will give you an appointment, but it seems like they will do it.

Duke said that they only see children.

I haven't contacted the last one. Thanks for the lead!
