For people with bad allergies, are there any lower to medium-cost small apartments (or other place of living for a single person) in the Triangle that have no carpets at all, even in the bedrooms.

I do not care if it is hardwood or laminate or whatever as long as there are no carpets, or alternatively, if they are unavoidable, at least have superior humidity control.

If not, are there any that cater to people with "environmental sensitivity" or whatever? Even though that concern may be exaggerated, at least the places that cater to it would be of interest.

For example, I find that most installed "range hoods" are only filters that do an inadequate job of filtering. Venting to outside would be much better.

Regarding humidity control, I find that in certain seasons the heating and A/C are simply off most of the time, and then the humidity and allergens have a field day. It is ok in the coldest part of winter or the hottest part of summer, because at those times the humidity is controlled by the A.C. or heating. Ideally I would like a place with independent humidity control.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I looked at some townhouses near Cameron Village that were all hardwood.

Years ago, the Raleigh Apartments, the whitewashed brick buildings, also near Cameron Village were all hardwood. No idea if it still is or what prices are now, but a place to start.

the Cameron Village condos, which many of are rentals, meet the criteria of "no carpet". But at rates of $850+ for a 1 BR, and 1200+ for a 2BR, not sure it fits the budget. And since they were all built post-war, I doubt they're very allergen-friendly.

Many newer places will have no carpets, and should fit the allergen-friendly/humidity concerns. They're just not going to be budget-friendly by most accounts.

Do you want hardwood or budget friendly? Not sure you're going to meet both.

Prioritize...

Would be helpful if you were more specific about what you consider to be "lower to medium-cost"

Thanks for all the replies which are very helpful.

I will look into the places near Cameron Village that have been mentioned and also newer places generically.

I am currently paying about $760 but could go up to the $850 some have mentioned if need be.

I doubt you're going to have much luck finding something with your special considerations within that budget unless you have a roommate to split the rent with.

Wildwoods of Lake Johnson is a possibility:

"hardwood floors, granite counter-tops, garden tub with jets, and much, much more! - relaxed one bedroom one bath has hardwood flooring in living, dining and bedroom areas. Ceramic tile floors in bathroom and kitchen. "

I had some friends that lived in Morrisville in an apartment near Mi Cancun and Wings and Rings. It had polished concrete floors. It was like 2000 sq ft and pricey
