We are planning for a local move within Raleigh. Anyone have recommendations of people they trust and are reasonable?
Thanks

We used movinglaborbrokers.com......but you'd have to get a moving truck yourself (we used PODS as we needed storage for a few months). They were fabulous both in NJ and in NC.

Moving Cost Question
Would you say that $150-170 per hour for 4 men to handle a local move (within 10 miles) of a 3 bedroom home to be reasonable?

I don't have a complete answer to your question, but I would have a little piece of advice based on my past experience... Get a quote for the total move, not an hourly rate. This will involve someone to come over and check out how much stuff you have, but it will prevent you from having a situation where the workers move slow and therefore have a ridiculous number of hours to bill!
We had a fixed-fee move and our neighbors (a few doors down) had an hourly rate. Same size truck, pulled up within 15 minutes of each other. It was incredibly hot that day; one of our 4 guys dropped out due to heatstroke and we only had 3 guys for a couple of hours (company sent a replacement). We were done two hours before the neighbors. I'm not saying they did it deliberately, but everyone moves at a different pace and so an hourly contact is difficult to judge!

That is too much. Pm me if you'd like and I'll give you the movers we used. We had 3 guys and it was reasonable.

Need help finding local short distance mover
We'll be moving from an apt to our new townhouse on 5/30 and need to hire someone with a truck to help facilitate our move. This will require moving only a few items of furniture from the apt/clothing and a limited amt of kitchen stuff. Additionally, we will arrange for our POD to be at the new location and will need assistance unloading (it is "chock full")! Dh feels we will need 2 men as well as a small truck for a few hours. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations and knows of anyone reliable/trustworthy. As always, thanks for your help.
