Wow, I LOVE Five Guys! We go to that location every so often, but since they just opened the one on 64 in Apex, that is actually closer for us. I love their little bacon cheeseburger. We don't get fries, we eat the free peanuts instead.
Five Guys is reliable. I can see why some hate on it, but at least you know what you're getting there.

I'm sorry....crazyperson says WHAT?!
Five-guys burgers are decent (agree that they are more on the greasy side than I prefer; but I like the selection of toppins you can get..with the exception of the fact that you can only get american "cheese") but their fries are on-point....the only reason I went there. You can smell when they're cooking a fresh batch from hundreds of yards away and that's what draws you in!
Local burger places (especially Al's in Chapel Hill) are where it's at for a good, quality burger worth paying a little extra for.
While Al's is my favorite...some other very honorable mentions...
I recently tried 94th street pub in Durham and had their "hangover burger"....also on point!
Salem Street Pub in downtown Apex...the "my wife said it would never sell"...burger with PB and honey on it....excellent.

Haha, we don't like their fries. Too potato-y for our tastes.
Original one in Cary, new one just opened in Apex.
I think both of them are ex-gas stations, which is sort of cool in a weird way. Very cool decor inside as well.
EDIT: Looking at pictures I don't know that Apex was a gas station - thought I heard that though.
The new one is located in the former Tilted Kilt. Don't think it was ever a gas station.
