Husband will be starting a new job and is looking for a furnished rental in the Wake Forest/Youngsville area. He will flying home most weekends for approx a year 'til son graduates and we can move out with him. Any ideas? Trying to keep the cost as low as possible as all commuting-related expenses are on us.
Air B'nB is too expensive unless owners are willing to discount in exchange for a long-term renter, but most aren't interested in discounting. Can't find apt complexes that have a furnished apt and don't think we want to rent furniture. Cheapest extended stay hotel would be over $1700/mo. Thank you--

If you are truly looking at a year, I would not go the short term furnished route. I've done that many times on relocations for short periods, 2-3 months, and haven't done it for less than $2k per month, all-in.

For a year, why not just rent a 1 BR place, and buy some "disposable" furniture. I can't imagine getting a furniture package at any rental for less than $500-600 per month, and you can buy a lot of cheap furniture for that price for a 1 BR apartment.

If you really want to go low budget your could furnish a 1 BR off craigslist in a weekend really cheap.

Just do furniture rental. I've done it before and it was pretty inexpensive. They even gave me a brand new mattress. That's the only thing I was concerned about.
