Default little red bugs

After our nice rainfall, I noticed little red bugs around my windowsill. They look like little rod dots. Now I see lots of them. I sprayed them with windex. Has anyone seen them in this area and do I need to call a bug exterminator?

Thanks

Possibly clover mites. We got them last year and had our exterminator spray, but they're harmless.

I agree - sounds like clover mites. We just had our pest control company treat our house for them. At first, I didn't even see them - you have to look carefully to see the "dots" and then you have to really stare to see that they're actually bugs (MUCH tinier than lady bugs). The info we got on them said they come in through the windows because they like that it's nice and warm and dry inside the house, but they won't really spread throughout the house because they like the sun. They are pretty harmless, just annoying. Since we have a regular contract with a pest control company anyway, they just sprayed the outside of the house, where they were entering.

Thanks.

We just saw them on our kitchen sill and were going to have Dodson Brothers Exterminators stop by.

Since NCSU says to just clean them up and not spray, that's what we did.

Good info on this board.

They are baby lady bugs. They will last about 2 weeks if left alone. Do not wipe them, as they will smear red everywhere. Best to either vacuum them up or place down bug paper to get them to stick to it.

Darn I thought they were chiggers, but that sounds like too early in the season for them to be out.
