My family and I are looking to find another place to rent preferably in Wake County. Also we would love it if it had some great surrounding schools for our girls to attend. We need at least a three bedroom/two bathroom and must allow cats as we have two. Our budget is really tight so nothing over $800. Please no negative comments. Thank you in advance.

I would suggest you ask the moderator to post this in the Raleigh/Durham/Cary/CH forum. I think you would get a better response.

Okay, how do I go about doing that?

You are not in touch with current pricing here.

In my diverse, non yuppie, part of Raleigh, $800 wouldn't even get you a decent 1 BR apartment, and pet rents and fees will add a bunch.

You need to consider other areas if you can work from there. Wendell and Zebulon come to mind. My daughter-in-law's family is native North Carolinean and loves living in Zebulon.

You might have better luck if you look for a 2 bedroom, but either way you'll need to adjust your expectations on how nice it will be and on schools. Unfortunately, the rents are much higher here than I thought. I've lived in Greensboro before, which is much less expensive and I really liked it there.

Maybe check out Clayton? Raleigh prices are high and you won't find something great for that budget, if at all. I know several people in Clayton who love the schools there.

We already live in Zebulon. We really need to move. The schools are just not that great and it would be a better for us all to get a fresh start somewhere.

Also we have two adults and two children ages 13 and 18 months so we really need at least 3 bedrooms. If anyone has any suggestions on where I should look that would be great!

What about Winston-Salem or Greensboro?

Rent in Greenville (NC) is super cheap. I was paying $400/mo for a 1br while I was in college at ECU. Just checked the rent and it's only gone up to $450 in almost 10 years lol. They were safe and nice apartments, but not fancy.
