I think switching to a saucer feeder should fix the problem. I like them also because the hummingbirds will sit to feed on the perch around the outside which is fun to watch.
My feeder is the same sort as C-Lan's, I will have to pick up a saucer type to try out. Thanks for the recommendation!
Just got my first hummingbird a few minutes ago at my new site. He hovered just above the feeder for a few seconds, but he didn't take a sip before taking off. He'll be back
I still have a bunch coming around (Southern Wake County). Most look to be females. I thought the cold snap a couple weeks ago would run them off, but we still have several that like to bomb each other at the feeder.
I still have two females at my feeder, one that likes to come near me and check things out every time I am out there. She'll feed, zoom to about 3 feet away from me and watch me for about 5 seconds, then go back to her feeding. I'm going to miss her!
Saw my last ones a week ago. No nectar disappearing, either.
