I love, love, love, love, LOVE my IKEA mattress. It's amazing. Just a joy to lie down on. It is hands down the most comfortable mattress I've ever owned or slept on anywhere.

We got a new kitchen and new beds from IKEA awhile ago (8 yrs?) and when we ordered in the store they delivered for a nominal fee. It might've been $99. It was a truckload of stuff and much cheaper to order it in the store and have it delivered than to order online and pay shipping. It may have changed since then, but worth reading the fine print about.

Bought furniture at IKEA on Saturday. It will be delivered on Saturday but I could have had it as early as Tuesday. My delivery was $99.

I love my Ikea mattress as well! It's been 3 years and going strong. Mattress preference greatly varies so I certainly would not discourage buying from Ikea, but you should think about in case you didn't like it.

As poppydog mentioned, it is my understanding that Ikea's delivery fee structure is different between online order and in-store purchase + delivery. I believe latter is cheaper. Yes, you have to drive to Charlotte, but if you really want to save, it might be worthwhile. I'd give the Charlotte store a call and inquire. They may relax the zip code border thing?

Or, you can wait until they come to the Triangle

Finally, I vouch for NC Modern Furniture. I bought apartment load of furniture so it was well worth it for me. They provide really great service.
