Hi
I'm trying to find a townhouse in a nice safe quiet neighborhood. I want to spend the least amount possible at the moment upto $125K depending on how much the HOA fees are too, the more expensive they are the less I can afford! I notice there was a house on Sandra Lane in the Midland Towne community, also there are some in Londonderry , Bent Creek, Riverbirch, and Village on the Green. Brittany Woods looks great but too expensive. I would like to live near Umstead park (I go hiking there) or near Creedmoor road and 540 as I work in Butner. The other place I was told about was Woodcroft in Durham which people have written positive things about. As a single female I'm just checking what my best options are. Does anyone have any comments about the above communities or any other ideas? Thanks

Have you looked at our many nice apt communities?

Many amenities and no maintenance headaches.

for $125k you can probably find a nice little home in Butner, Creedmore or the granville county side of franklinton.

With that budget, you will get more for your $ outside of Raleigh and Wake County.

forgive me if this reply ends up in the wrong place, I'm not sure how to work this thread thing yet!
I'm haven't really looked at apartments, no. I really don't like the idea of having people on all sides of me, so hopefully I won't have to go that route.

I have been looking at houses more up this way and I agree with you I could afford more house up this way (which would be nice too). I'm just concerned about the possibility of declining home values if that proposed Bio Disease Lab ends up in Butner. Not really sure what to do about that. Also, I am single, so I'd like to be able to meet some people too...not easily done out here haha!

You did it right!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about that plant- but thats just me- I tend to be more laid back than a lot of folks! I buy a home- not as an investment, but as a home that I love. IF i make something when i sell- great, if not, ce'st la vie! But many don't view it that way, which is okay too. We are buying a house for my mother in law, and are viewing that one more as an investment than our personal home....but her home will likely be in Raleigh- since its kind of a middle ground for us and my sister in law to get to moms if she needs us...

You can always nix butner off your list, creedmore and franklinton (granville co side) I think will continue to appreciate. Its been on the upswing for some time, and values are still increasing.

As for meeting folks- the drive (especially from creedmore) really isn't that bad. I live near the franklin/ granville line and can get to six forks in 20 minutes taking backroads. from creedmore you can take 70 straight to glenwood.

Default Still think raleigh might be best

I went to Raleigh to look at those communities today and the one in durham. They all looked like nice neighborhoods to me I hope i'm not wrong. The house I looked at in Creedmoor was definately the "best one on the block" so that wont' be one i'm considering any more unfortunately. Does anyone have any inside info on the communities i had listed? Thanks

Where in Durham did you look? If I can I'll offer feedback on it since I live in Durham about 5 minutes from downtown.

Default Durham

I was looking at Woodcroft, the single story townhouse part. I was wondering how safe it was, it looked nice and well maintained. I was considering moving to the Southpoint area if i could afford it. Woodcroft seems affordable (under 120) and the trails look nice too. Any other areas in the Southpoint area would be great to learn of if you know any that I can afford!
