We sit out back in the evenings after dinner. My wife is out there a lot more than me. I use Terminex Bait and Kill (natural garlic based) spray on our yard every few weeks and we are not bother by mosquitos.

Excellent suggestions, thanks all. I went for a walk in the woods last night and the mosquitos have just started here, so I'll try out the least invasive / natural choices first and escalate until I find something that works.

Also, I too like to do yard work, even on the hottest days. Going to parks is a bonus when there are less people braving the heat too.

Glad to hear that the stuff works. I was up at Chincoteague Island the other weekend and bought that brand in their local grocery store in anticipation of bugs on the beach, but ended up not needing it. It really has a decent smell.
